Avoid the sun 2 - 4 weeks
before and after treatment. Patients should discontinue use of
any topical medications (retin-A) or other skin care products
3 - 5 days prior to treatment. If you have a history of perioral
herpes simplex virus, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed.
Also, your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing
any makeup, cream, oils, topical anesthetics, or self-tanning
products before treatment. RECENTLY TANNED SKIN SHOULD NOT BE
TREATED! Treatment within 2 weeks of active tanning (natural sunlight
or tanning booth) may result in hypopigmentation which may not
clear for several months.
